Still here!!!

We are still here!!!  The brothers are growing SO very fast and I can't keep up.  Asher is 14 months old now, he is walking, talking and getting into as much trouble as the "littles".  Matthew & Zeke are 2 1/2 and boy...they are two handfuls!  My motto these days is "two two year olds is a LOT of two year olds"!  Danny boy is 5 already.  Still so sweet (when not having a tantrum) and always SO cute!  These days he is such a huge help since Gabe, now 7!, has just broken his femur, boohoo and OOUUUCCCHHHH!  He broke it on the 21st and had surgery on Tuesday morning.  He now has a medal plate from his hip to his knee with 6 screws holding that bone together.  In six months he will have another surgery to take all the hardware out.  He is doing very well and is so very brave, we are all so proud of him.  How it happened:
We were going outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and say hi to a friend.  Gabe went out first and got on his new bike and was tooling around while I was getting jackets on the littles.  By the time I got out (a mere minute or two after Gabe) our firefighter neighbor was carrying Gabe up the driveway and Gabe was crying that he had broken his leg.  He was right, it was quite the break.  An ambulance came & we went to Littleton hospital, then we "got" to go in another ambulance to children's hospital.  They were great and so was Gabe.  He was in A LOT of pain, but he handeled himself like such a champ!

In "other" news, there was an explosion of laundry, there are lots of little people destroying things, the kitchen must have sneezed because there is food & dishes everywhere! So I guess it's great because all those things mean all my boys and the Hubby from heaven are all here with me in our beautiful comfy home!

From the house of happy mess, blessings, happiness & love to all!

Here they are! Christmas time & all dressed alike!
Not all looking at the camera, and yes maybe Matthew IS casting
some sort of spell on all of us?!  They are cute, I think anyway!
Hey, they are all facing the same way, that is a victory unto itself, don't judge!

The "littles" are not so little anymore.
I know I am partial because I am the mommy but,
they are CUTE!

Well, I know this does not look like a successful picture,
but you should see the other twenty seven we tried!  This was
the best one, really!

Home sweet home

We are home.  We got to go home late Friday night!  Sleeping at home without someone checking vitals every few hours is a lot more comfy & restful.  Danny did a wonderful job on Friday!  Despite the surgery starting over an hour late and not being able to eat, Danny kept up his big brave boy attitude & sailed through!  After the surgery he had to lay flat, completely still and not bend his right leg for four hours, I don't even think I could do that!  He was a champ, he did it!  As long as the t.v. was on he was happy.  It is truly amazing to think just how much has to be working so precise, and so exquisitely together to have just an ordinary day! It makes me believe to a new level just how much of a miracle every breath and every heartbeat really is.  With all that we have going on in life, all the irritating annoyances of daily life, all the things that cause us stress, money, traffic, work, it would do the whole world good to pause and take a deep breath and then give thanks that we can!  Next time you see someone you love put your ear to their chest & realize that the little sound you hear of that heartbeat is an amazing miracle.  It makes my attitude if gratitude grow in magnitude!
I hope we can all let the stressful and annoying stuff in our days be overshadowed by AWE  in just how wonderfully made we all are!

Much love to you from,

In Recovery

In recovery!  The surgery went well, and Danny Boy is the proud new owner if 2 titanium coils!  These coils are what closes the hole, and eventually the heart tissue will grow around them & it will be as if there was never a hole! Now we just pray that these coils stay in place.  We should know by around 7:30 this evening when they do an x-ray.  They have already done an ecco and so far everything looks to be closed.  We will be keeping our fingers crossed that it stays that way.  My Danny is doing so well!  Such a big brave boy, I am so proud of him!  I'll post pictures as soon as I can. And I'll try to update after the x-ray.

Until then much love to you from,
The Brothers Buckley

My Danny Boy's Heart

This sweet, beautiful boy needs to have his heart fixed.  We had no idea, but a hole that is supposed to close within hours after being born never closed.  Thankfully our pediatrician heard a murmur and told us to get it checked out.  The following week we had his appointment with the cardiologist and he told us about the problem. This hole is called a PDA and it causes Danny's heart and lungs to work harder than they should.  The left side of his heart is enlarged, but all of the damage done by this hole should heal itself with time because he is so young.  The plan is that this Friday Sept 30th we will go to Children's hospital to have the hole "fixed".  It is a heart catheter procedure where the surgeon places a catheter in the artery of his leg and threads a device into his heart, the blood clots around the device and that is how the hole is closed.  Sounds simple & straight forward enough.  I would not be so worried, but this is just about the same procedure that Ezekiel had that failed & led to him having emergency open heart surgery.  This situation is so much different, Danny is much bigger, it's a different doctor and a different hospital, and Danny is healthier than Zeke was going into surgery.  These are the things I am constantly reminding myself every moment.

I will update this site as soon as I can after Danny is awake after recovery.

Thank you for checking in!
Have an awesome day,
The Brothers Buckley
